Our Christmas Event – another book launch!

So we had a great time at November’s Reading Room launching the Anthology (see Richard’s post below) and we’re going to do ‘it’ all over again at December’s event – ‘it’ being another book launch – this time, the book is Liz Macrae Shaw’s debut novel ‘Love and Music Will Endure’, published by the Islands Book Trust.

We’re very proud to be hosting the launch of Liz’s first book – she has been a Reading Room member since we started and has been a Committee member as well. Love and Music Will Endure is the story of Mairi Mhor nan Oran, the famous songwriter and activist. Mairi was from Skeabost, so it is fitting that the novel is launched at Skeabost House Hotel given Mairi’s strong links in the area.

Aonghas Macneacail, Reading Room patron says of the novel:

‘When facts are realised as fiction, when history is made presently resonant, something magical can take place – and this is it’

Liz will be talking about writing the novel and reading selected passages and we’ll have well-known guest singers to perform some of Mairi Mhor’s songs.

Love and Music Will Endure is on Amazon and we hope that Liz will have some copies for sale on the night.

Add to this our Christmas Raffle and a Christmas-themed open-mic and we’re gearing up for a wonderful night of words, song and Christmas cheer great. If you have a Christmas poem or story (your own or a favourite by someone else) and would like to read in the open-mic, please email us at skyereadingroom@yahoo.co.uk to let us know so we can organise the programme.

We’ll also have copies of the Anthology on sale, so if you missed buying yours at November’s event, you’ll be able to rectify that in time for Christmas! If you prefer, you can pre-order your copies online at www.theskyereadingroom.wordpress.com and collect them at the event.

Join us at the Skeabost Hotel on Tuesday 17 December at 7.00 for what promises to be a great night.

We’d appreciate if you could print out a copy of the ‘ Love and Music will Endure – Poster‘ and stick it up locally.
