Only a few hours now until we announce the list of Baker Prize 2013 winners.
If you want to know who they are and also enjoy an evening of poetry and adventures with the Sasquatch – come and join us on Tuesday, 25 February, 7.00 at the Skeabost Hotel.
Mandy is a poet, author and environmental activist. Her first novel, The Last Bear, won the Robin Jenkins Literary Award for environmental writing and her most recent novel is Bear Witness. During 2013 she was poet in residence at the Edinburgh Royal Botanic Gardens, celebrating the ancient relationship between nature and writing exemplified by the Gaelic Tree Alphabet. She has gathered poems about trees from around the world into the new anthology, Into the Forest.
We’ll also be hearing from Reading Room member, Drew Love-Jones. Drew will be introducing us to Archie Hunter, Sasquatch hunter extraordinaire, the hero of his Young Adults novel, Windigo.
We hope we have a good turnout to welcome and support Drew, Mandy and guests and to hear Mandy announce the Baker Prize winners. Who knows, we may even have some winners in the audience?
We will be running the fundraising book stall so are always grateful for any contributions of books you’d like to pass on to good homes.
As usual, refreshments and bar meals are available at the hotel.
Entry for non-members is £3.
