Previous winner, Heather Marshall, launched the 2014 competition at a lovely evening event yesterday. The great weather, the footie and a local debate on the Scottish Referendum probably all contributed to just a select few folk who enjoyed a story from Cynthia Rogerson and an introduction to the exciting developments at (soon to be independent) Moniack Mhor Writer’s Centre. Heather read from her brand new novel, The Thorn Tree and excited us with some brilliant character development – three strong women characters. Clear that sparks will fly! Heather sold out her suitcase supplies but the book is available in the UK at the moment as an e-book from Waterstones and she hopes too to be in paper version here soon.

Be as creative as you like with the several meanings of the word.
